In a beginning painting class at Utah State University my whistling, sparrow-like professor offered an unexpected mantra: “relax, and make an ugly painting.” These words broke through me with an intense sense of freedom, catalyzing my efforts to approach both art and life with a more playful embrace. Naturally tentative, I now try to sift through a creative life to find magic in the mistakes. My school focus is Art and English with a Creative Writing emphasis, and my dreams lie in writing, doodling, exploring, and celebrating the poetry in everything. I believe that wisdom and wonder hide in all moments, all people, and every form of spirituality.
